Royal Hua Hin Golf Course, Thailand’s oldest 18-hole course, offers a unique blend of history and challenge. Located just five minutes from downtown Hua Hin, the course was established in 1924 to serve British railway workers and Thai aristocrats. Designed by a Scottish railroad engineer, it features natural terrain set against rocky hills with stunning views of the Gulf of Thailand. Although it underwent renovations in the 1980s, the course retains its classic British design, with mature tree-lined fairways and small elevated greens. Golfers will find challenging doglegs, tight fairways, and occasional wildlife encounters, including macaque monkeys near the 13th hole. While Royal Hua Hin may not be as manicured as newer courses, its historical significance and beautiful surroundings make it a must-play. The course is well-maintained year-round, with snack kiosks and a remodeled clubhouse providing comfort for visitors.
